as i get ready for my last "long run" of the season, i thought i'd answer a question someone asked me yesterday... for the rest of you to enjoy. -- "what's really going on in your head when you go out for the marathon?" - ok, you asked...
it starts with a little bit of ("completely normal") OCD.
i try to spend most of my time feeling/looking just like this.
eventually, reality will set in... looking/feeling/even smelling much like this.
you have keep telling yourself (even if you don't really believe it) this* is coming.
...and accept that to some extent, this is the price to pay for "find(ing) your limits, and then exceed(ing) them." [Sheehan]
BUT...
"there will days & minutes where you seriously question if you can do this... but there will be a lifetime knowing you have." [Peersons]
